2018 Knitting Goals.

I taught myself how to knit in January of 2017. Once the calendar flips I’ll have been knitting for a year. Exciting stuff for me.

I didn’t knit as many things as I’d have liked, and not everything I knit came out the way I’d hoped, but I would have to say I think I did really well for my first year knitting. My largest project was a sweater for my 9 year old daughter. My smallest, a pair of mittens for my 3 year old daughter. The easiest project I completed was a hat. The hardest, a shawl for my aunt. I knit many pairs of socks, I completed some stranded colorwork. I knit a few toys. I even wrote my own pattern.

In 2017 I completed a total of 29 projects: 7 hats, 7 pairs of socks, 4 pairs of mittens, 3 dolls, 2 shawls, 2 cowls, 2 sweaters, 1 Christmas stocking, and 1 dishcloth.

I even managed to dye 11 skeins of yarn and sew 11 project bags.

In 2018 I’d like to:

  • Finish my Light Rain Sweater (by Joji Locatelli)
  • Finish Gillian’s Flax sweater
  • Knit Hannah the shawl she wants using the yarn she dyed herself
  • Knit a pair of fingering weight socks (all socks knit in 2017 were worsted weight)
  • Finish the Christmas Stockings I started (1 of 6 is completed)
  • Finish my Flax sweater
  • Knit myself the Exploration Station Shawl by Stephen West

I think that’s it. For now anyway!

I hope that everyone who reads this has a very happy new year!
