Here are a few progress shots taken while I was working on the Flax Sweater for my 9 year old daughter, Hannah.
This was my first time knitting a sweater and I am so glad I started with a Flax. The directions are well written and easy to follow. Plus it’s on Ravelry. I joined a Tin Can Knits Ravelry group when I was stuck and asked a question and it didn’t take long before I had an answer. I thought that was great and I was so grateful.
I did knit the sleeves a bit longer than the pattern said to, and I made the ribbing on the wrist longer than the pattern called for. I want to make sure Hannah can wear this for a while!! She is so happy with it and was so excited.
It took me just under a month to knit. I started on September 10 and finished on October 5. I might have finished it sooner if I didn’t work full time :/
Anyway, it was great to knit and I’ve already got a second one started, smaller, for my youngest daughter, Naomi. I’m going to drop the garter stitch on this one and add some stripes in the body, I think. We’ll see.
Yesterday I stopped by WEBS and picked up a yarn order for my own sweater. I intend to knit myself Light Rain by Joji Locatelli. I also bought a ball winder and swift! I can’t wait to use it. Weird? Maybe.
