Off my needles: multiple projects!

First I finished a pair of mittens to match Naomi’s hat and cowl. I used the basic pattern from a Craftsy class, but added the garter stitch and used a k2tog and ssl on the decreases at each end instead of k2tog even spaced around. I think they came out great.

I also designed a head wrap/ear warmers that I’m calling “Reversible Diamond Ear Warmers”. I know my names are so clever haha. This can be purchased on Ravelry, Craftsy, or Etsy.

Then I made another Oats Cowl for my daughter Hannah.

Still on my needles: Gillian’s Flax sweater, Hannah’s Reyna shawl, and my Light Rain Sweater. Between work and home I don’t have a lot of time to knit, but I am slowly and steadily making progress.

Finished: Beanie and Cowl

First, I have started one of the items on my 2018 Knitting Goals List:
Hannah’s Shawl. I am getting to use the Darn Good Yarn Bowl my cousin got me for Christmas. And I love it!! You can purchase one here (50% off with code: YB50).

I think that Hannah’s hand dyed yarn is looking very pretty all knit up! I can’t wait to finish, she has been wanting a shawl with this for quite some time.

I have also separated the sleeves on Gillian’s Flax sweater, which is great because this is yet another project on my 2018 Knitting Goals list.

And so far for 2018 (10 days in), I have knit Naomi a little cowl and a matching beanie/hat.

I’ve learned to Knit.

I have always wanted to learn how to knit but the one time I tried, about 16 years ago, I was not able to get the hang of it. In January I decided I wanted to try again.Of course I went straight to Craftsy. My first class was Learn to Knit: My First Hat. I completed two hats and they were the first things I have ever knit in my life. You can see the second hat and a progress shot here.

Of course that was so much I wanted to do more, so I purchased ‘My First Socks’. I knit two pairs of socks with that class. The socks are cuff down.

Then I decided I wanted to learn how to knit socks from the toe up. So I enrolled in ‘My First Toe-Up Socks’. I have since completed four pairs of socks using that method.

Currently I am working on a hat from the Fall Knit-Along (free class), as I have already finished the cowl from that class.

So those are just a few of my projects since the beginning of the new year. There are more pictures on my Facebook page. I do miss sewing and quilting but I have to say that I am really enjoying knitting.
